Project "Era 1" Gaming Rig

(Time Lapse Build Video Soon)

I named this build "Era 1" because it is my first build ever, and future builds may be called Era 2, Era 3, etc. I put about

two months into planning/picking parts for this build. Also, as I mentioned this is my first ever PC build so I had to learn

over the last couple months how to build a computer. Hope you enjoy my build log and it will be updated regularly. ^_^

Old PC Specs and Plans Set Aside

What I'm upgrading from: Intel i7 980, custom XSPC water loop 240mm rad, Gigabyte GA-X58-OC, EVGA GTX 580, 2TB Hitachi HDD, CoolerMater Silent Pro 800w 80Plus, 12GB  Corsair Vengeance 1600, InWin Dragon Rider full tower.

Custom Loop Plans (set aside till a later date): I originally was planning on water cooling the *** outta this rig. I had ordered a 360mm and 240mm XT45 radiators from Alphacool. My Plan was to buy a GPU block for my 970 which was to be released in January from EK. I would have used an XSPC RayStorm CPU block, along with a Swiftech MCP655 pump and an EK X3 150 reservoir, 7/16ID" 5/8OD" PrimoChill Tubing with BitsPower compression fittings. This rig is available to be water cooled in the future, but I decided for now I will be going with air cooling or an AIO for my CPU. My reasons for this decision are simple, price, time, and maintenance. The main reason I am updating is to get more into PC gaming. My total cost for water cooling would roughly be $500-600 dollars according to my custom loop plan. I decided I would be much better off for the time being getting an AIO or air cooler. 1.) My rig will get up and running quicker. 2.) I would be saving $500+ dollars...which I could use towards a 2nd GPU in SLI if I feel the need 3.) Maintenance, although I enjoy messing around in my PC my main goal is to get into PC gaming. I want to be doing just that and not worrying about my PC.
