Hi Guys
This will be my first post on the forum i have been lurking around for awhile now but never had anything to really start a thread on.
I hope this isn't too boring but i thought i might as well show that even if you are having hard times you can still build a decent rig.
This is my first build. I have long been a PC user and enthusiast, but i have up to this point have never had the money and time and opportunity to build my own PC.
This project was started as a i7 Gaming PC, I then had a problem with money and had a very limited budget. The idea behind it was a PC i could upgrade over time as i gained more money.
The experience of building this PC was a starting block for my more ambitious project that i will be starting soon. An x99 build custom water cooled and custom case build. This is to be financed by my father in lieu of the last few years birthday and Christmas presents.
This is the original parts list:

And this is what i eventually ended up with:

It actually cost me a lot less than that as i got all of the parts on sale on black Friday and the GPU i got secondhand at CEX about 3 months back.
As you can see i had a radical change due to unforeseen circumstances almost all of the money i had put aside had disappeared. Now i have had this rig for almost 3 weeks and had it running properly for less than 1. I am currently running Ubuntu 14.04 LTS, and SparkyLinux Gameover on 2 separate USB keys. a ADATA 32gb and a Flash Voyager 64gb. this is working really well so far. I will update with the build process at a later date when i have a chance to move it to my room in the case. I am currently running it in the case with the back side panel open as i don't have time to deal with all the cable routing and such. When i have finished constructing my desk/storage area where it will be permanently installed i will rebuild it with all pictures and a thourough build log.
All questions are welcome. But please don't be offended if it takes me awhile to reply as i am currently working massively hard and do not spend much time online at the moment.
Signing off for now
