I'd like to thank you guys for helping me keep my budget around $300 for my dads gaming rig. i had never really thought of craigslist as a viable option for PC parts. turns out you guys were right and shortly after the holidays was a great time to get some gear. i guess ill start with the tale of the tape:

FX 6300 / MSI 970a-43g combo - Craigslist $70

Corsair cx600 - Craigslist $30

Gskills Ripjaws ddr3 1600mhz  4x4gb (16gb) - Craigslist $40

Evga 750ti - leftover from last PC $0

WD black 1TB 7200 hdd 64mb - gift from son $0 ( cause who doesn't just have TB laying around these days)

Coolermaster Tx3 - newegg $18

DVD ROM - leftover from last PC $0

4x Rosewill 120mm red led fans - newegg - $18

IN WIN GT1 Black - Newegg $60

Total: $236

I'd first like to say how much of a pleasure it was to build in the GT1. I own a GRone, personally I was a bit skeptical, if the GT1 would impress me.  In the end it proved to be all the case that the GRone was, just in a smaller package. The cable management was a breeze with the extra room behind the motherboard, even with a non modular PSU.  I assumed the front fan that came with the case was red led, it was not. That fan does however come with its own micro dust filter attached.

If you add the cost of the 750ti and the HDD it creeps closer to a $400 build... Microcenter in boston has open box msi 970a motherboards for $35 and fx 6300s for $90 so you can come pretty close to $70 in this builds price without dealing with the people on craigslist. the ram and PSUs are another story i don't think i would have scored those for such a good price anywhere else. tbh the system doesn't really need the cx600, but for $30 i went with it... idk... hes 380x ready for the new tomb raider, i guess... maybe...

I had a bunch of fun hanging out with my dad traveling all over new england to gather parts. Dad is playing The Golf Club, Tomb Raider, Dirt 3 and everything else he plays on high settings and is pretty stoked! I'm a long time watcher of the show, first time forum poster keep up the good work guys!
